Paul Wall, The Suffers headline musical performances during Advocare Texas Kickoff weekend

HOUSTON – Rapper Paul Wall and the band The Suffers will headline performances leading up to the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff game between the Houston Cougars and the Oklahoma Sooners at NRG Stadium.

HOUSTON – Rapper Paul Wall and the band The Suffers will headline performances leading up to the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff game between the Houston Cougars and the Oklahoma Sooners at NRG Stadium.

The AdvoCare Texas Kickoff game weekend will get underway at The Bud Light Party in the Park, headlined with a free concert Paul Wall, on Sept. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bagby Park in Midtown.

The Houston-based artist, has released eight solo albums and three collaborative albums over the course of his career with artists including Snoop Dogg, Chamillionaire and Jermaine Dupri. Dubbed as “The People’s Champ,” Paul Wall won three Ozone Awards in 2006 and was a GRAMMY Award nominee for Best Rap Performance as a Duo or Group in 2007.

Along with Paul Wall’s performance, the event will include visits by cheerleaders, mascots and football legends from UH and OU, a drumline performance, sponsor activations and giveaways including apparel, tickets and sideline passes for Saturday’s matchup between the Cougars and Sooners.

On game day, Bud Light Fan Fest will kick off the events at NRG Stadium on Sept. 3 starting at 7 a.m. in Bud Light Plaza.

The event is headlined by Houston’s award-winning 10-piece ensemble, The Suffers, who will hit the stage at 9 a.m. for their headliner performance with a special appearance by Houston rap icon Bun B.

The Suffers have redefined the sound of Gulf Coast Soul.

Established in 2011, The Suffers played more than 150 shows across North America last year and made their national television debut on the Late Night Show with David Letterman. This year, the band performed their new album on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Bud Light Fan Fest is a free event open to all 2016 AdvoCare Texas Kickoff ticketholders that features live music, prizes and the teams’ spirit walks into NRG Stadium.
