Garth Brooks to perform 8 shows in Houston this summer

Concert organizers say for the first time in 17 years, The Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood is coming to Houston

HOUSTON – Garth Brooks is coming to Houston for the first time in 17 years. The Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood will be here for eight shows in late June and early July.

Country fans in Houston were thrilled to hear that Garth is finally coming back.

"He's going to play eight shows in four days? No way! He'll sell them out, he'll sell them all out," said Roy Rodriguez, a Garth fan.

"Phones immediately started lighting up," said 93Q Country DJ Christie Brooks. She said it's one of the most exciting announcements she's made in years.

"He brought a whole new level of performing to country music," Brooks said. "It's so exciting. It's high energy."

Brooks' last show in Houston was in 1998.

He retired for 14 years.

Late last year, Brooks released his new album Man Against Machine, his first in 13 years.
