HOUSTON — Rodeo Houston is in full swing with some new acts this year, including Texas rapper That Mexican OT.
He’ll be hitting the big stage at Bun B’s ‘All- American takeover’ concert Tuesday night. That Mexican OT spoke exclusively to KHOU 11 since his scheduled performance was announced.
“It’s a blessing to be a part of Bun’s act," he said. "I love Bun. He’s a part of my childhood. He’s on so many bangers that we jam today and the things that he’s done. I mean look at him. He’s a part of this act on the Rodeo. He’s the head honcho on it,"
The Texas rapper with the unique name said while this may be his first actual Rodeo, he’s been ready for this moment since he was a kid.

“I was already performing when I was standing on my mother’s bed rapping to whatever music video that was playing on 106 and Park," he said. "I was already performing in the third and fourth grade, when I’m rapping with all the kids around me."
His journey started in Bay City, Texas, about an hour and a half away from Houston.

He now goes by “That Mexican OT” the OT stands for Outta Texas.
And thanks to his hit song “Johnny Dang,” he took his act out of Texas, launching a 20-city tour last October.
“God put me here to make it mainstream,” That Mexican OT said.
The 25-year-old thanks his fans for helping the song break into the Billboard’s top 100 last year, generating over 100 million streams on Spotify.
“My fans know me," he said. "My fans spoil me. I call them my bosses."
During the interview with KHOU 11’s reporter Ugochi Iloka, That Mexican OT gave an example of how he comes up with a good flow so effortlessly.
“Just putting it together, even manipulating words like city cops and idiots," he said. "Theres so many things you can do you know. Eighty feet as in you got a defeat meaning like you lost.”
That Mexican OT’s new album just dropped last week, with some big collabs.
“You know it’s a big project," he said. "I’m excited. I got amazing features like Moneybagg Yo, Slim Thug , Z-RO, Drodi, and Paul Wall."
The rapper gives credit to God, his family, hunger to learn and his fans for getting him to this point of his rap career.
“I want to keep rap alive," he said. "There’s a lot of things I want to keep alive, but my job is to do rap, so thank you."
As for his bosses, aka OT’s fans, he has a special message to those who are joining him on his musical journey.
“It’s more than just you are being a fan," he siad. "You are saving my life. You’re saving someone’s life, and you don’t even know it because it’s pure enjoyment to you."
As for the keys to his success, he said it has a lot to do with where he comes from.
“Just that country living not having nothing and just making something out of nothing," he said. "Being able to go outside and be creative and make happiness from there."
