Meet rodeo rock star Rocker Steiner

At just 20 years old, Rocker Steiner represents a growing trend.

HOUSTON — Rocker Steiner has an undeniable “it” factor. He has a huge social media following and has even made an appearance on the hit drama series "Yellowstone," but despite his massive popularity, the Weatherford native wants to be known for what he does on the dirt.

“I like to think of myself as the same kid I was three or four years ago," Steiner said. "I’m just a guy who’s showing up to rodeos and winning and I’d like to think people recognize me for it, not for something else -- being on ‘Yellowstone’ or social media. I want them to know that I’m good,” said the bareback rider.

Steiner is a third-generation cowboy who made his debut at RodeoHouston in 2022. His dad and grandfather were both world champions who competed in RodeoHouston.

“I didn’t really realize how big this rodeo was and how good everybody was," Steiner said. "I was just a young, dumb kid that knew I was good but now it’s a little bit different. You know how big this stage is and how much it matters for the rest of the year."

At just 20 years old, Steiner represents a growing trend -- the sport seems to be getting better younger.

“The younger generation, they’re choosing their events earlier it seems like, in the sport of rodeo,” says veteran steer wrestler Blake Knowles.

Steiner is hoping as he continues to get bigger, he makes his mark.

“I finished tenth my first year then fifth this year. If we keep going up five spots each year, then this is the year,” he said.
