HOUSTON — The Juneteenth Houston Citywide Committee on Thursday announced the Celebrate Freedom Festival, which they say is the city of Houston's official Juneteenth kickoff celebration.
The festival is scheduled for June 1 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Emancipation Park.
According to the committee, several historically Black neighborhoods will host showcases at the celebration, including Third Ward, Fourth Ward, Fifth Ward, Independence Heights, Sunnyside, Acres Homes and South Park.
There will also be live music, dance performances, cultural exhibitions, food and more.
