Why one Houston restaurant was just taken off the Texas Michelin Guide

The Michelin Guide announced Thursday morning that Kâu Ba had been removed from their list.

HOUSTON — Just days after being recognized by the Michelin Guide, a Houston restaurant has been removed from their list of Bib Gourmand selections.

The Michelin Guide announced Thursday morning that Kâu Ba had been removed from their list. Kâu Ba was among the 16 restaurants selected for having great food at a great value.

This was because the restaurant closed permanently after the guide’s inspection teams visited the establishment.

"Upon further investigation, our team has discovered the restaurant has been permanently closed since our Inspection team's visits occurred," Michelin said in a statement released Thursday morning.

According to a press release on Tuesday, Kâu Ba’s location on Dunlavy in the Montrose area will be taken over by Alora, a new Peruvian Vietnamese-inspired restaurant.

The same release said Kâu Ba, a Vietnamese-Cajun restaurant, closed several weeks ago. Alora is scheduled to open at the location in late December.

Louis Lamson Quy and several business partners purchased the assets of Southern Dandy LLC, according to the release. Southern Dandy LLC is the previous owner and operator of Kâu Ba.

Alora will announce its executive chef and management team at a future date.
