HOUSTON — Zack Tawatari joined the KHOU 11 team in July of 2021. He was born and raised in California, spending the majority of his life growing up Orange County. But he decided to go to school in New York, at NYU, where he’d end up spending a total of 11 years between college and his first station before moving back to the Los Angeles/OC area for the latest stop in his career.

Zack spent the first part of his career as a member of the New York sports media but has since covered everything from hurricanes to wild fires to race relations. His wide variety of stories has made him a versatile reporter and passionate storyteller. He won a New York Press Club award for his series “Tommy John: Career Saves Leader” in 2016.

Zack loves to play golf, and is a huge sports fan; baseball especially. He’s excited to be in Houston, and looks forward to being part of a community that is so diverse and has such a rich history!”
