HOUSTON — Kim Castro is the weekday meteorologist for KHOU 11 News.
She joined the team in October of 2021 after working in the West Coast for five years. She spent three years in Fresno, California at KMPH and two years in Medford, Oregon at KTVL.
Kim has a B.S. in Geosciences, Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State (go Bulldogs!) and a B.A. in Spanish, Translation and Interpretation from the University of Arizona (go Cats!).
She is half Ecuadorian, half German, and fully bilingual, which means she’ll be forecasting in beautiful Southeast Texas in Spanish, too.
Kim loves weather and mother nature. She’s climbed the Cotopaxi Volcano and explored the Galapagos Islands--famous for Darwin’s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection. She’s been to Asia, Europe, South America, Australia, and hopes to make it to Africa and Antarctica next!
When she’s not exploring our beautiful green earth she’s exploring food. Recommend anything to her, she’ll try it.
