HOUSTON — Deevon Rahming joined the KHOU 11 news team in June of 2023 after 3.5 years at our sister station, KARE 11 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
While in the Twin Cities Deevon was front and center reporting on the civil unrest that ensued in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder.
Before Minneapolis, Deevon spent two years reporting for WPDE, ABC15 in Myrtle Beach South Carolina covering everything from hurricanes to national breaking news.
In 2019, he won a breaking news Emmy for his coverage of an unfortunate ambush shooting of seven law enforcement officers in Florence, South Carolina, where two officers were killed.
Born in the Florida Keys, and raised in southwest Florida, Deevon’s career in television news began his junior year of high school, as a production assistant at WINK News, the CBS affiliate in Fort Myers, FL.
After graduating from high school, Deevon spent a year abroad as a music vocal major at Hillsong International Leadership College in Sydney, Australia.
Random fun fact, he was one "yes" away from Hollywood on American Idol Season 8!
Upon his return to southwest Florida, Deevon worked again as a production assistant, this time at WFTX, the FOX affiliate in Cape Coral, FL.
A self-proclaimed “news junkie” Deevon always knew he wanted to be in front of the camera as a reporter, so he put his on-camera skills to the test as an intern at WSB-TV in Atlanta, where he says he learned the skills of the trade from some of the best reporters and anchors in the country.
As a proud Florida State University alumnus, Deevon is delighted to be living out his dreams as a reporter here in Houston.
When he's not out in the field working for you or sitting in front of his TV on a Saturday in the fall yelling, "GO NOLES!" Deevon enjoys exploring all that Houston has to offer including new restaurants, sporting events, and dog parks with his two pups Titus and Onyx.
You may even catch him singing a tune or two at your neighborhood karaoke bar!
However, it's telling your stories that Deevon loves most, so if you've got a story idea he wants to hear about it. Email him directly at drahming@khou.com.
