HOUSTON — All lanes of I-45 the Gulf Freeway have reopened after being shut down by a big rig fire near Beltway 8.
Note: the video in this story is from an earlier raw video feed from the scene
The closure happened around 10:15 a.m. at Almeda Genoa, just north of Beltway 8.
An HFD HAZMAT team had to mop up a spill from the big rig so it took several hours to clear the scene.
The HOV was also jammed due to rubbernecking.
The truck driver made it out safely and wasn't hurt.
This was the second closure on I-45 this morning. Earlier, a crash involving Houston police officers impacted traffic inside the 610 Loop. That incident has cleared.
