Texans sign CB, special teams ace Johnson Bademosi

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans signed unrestricted free agent CB Johnson Bademosi, the team announced Friday.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Bademosi, 27, is second in the NFL in total special teams tackles since entering the league in 2012 with 74. He spent the 2017 season with the New England Patriots, where he recorded a career-high 20 total tackles (15 solo) to go along with one pass defensed in 16 regular season games played (three starts).

Bademosi (6-0, 205) was originally signed as a college free agent by the Cleveland Browns following the 2012 NFL Draft out of Stanford. He led the Browns in special teams tackles each of his four seasons in Cleveland before signing with the Detroit Lions in 2016.

In his one season with Detroit, Bademosi recorded 18 total tackles (16 solo), one interception and five passes defensed in 16 regular season games played (three starts).

For his career, Bademosi has compiled 51 total tackles (42 solo), one interception, nine passes defensed and one fumble recovery in 94 regular season games played (six starts).

Bademosi has also appeared in three postseason games in his NFL career, including Super Bowl LII with New England in 2017.
