Texans QB Watson not expected to miss Bills game

If Deshaun Watson has any lingering issues from the victory, he isn't letting on that he does, nor that they would keep him from playing against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6 at NRG Stadium.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson took a beating in the 19-16 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. The Dallas pass rush may have sacked him once, but they registered 10 quarterback hits on the second-year signal caller, who is coming off of a torn ACL from a year ago.

If Watson has any lingering issues from the victory, he isn’t letting on that he does, nor that they would keep him from playing against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6 at NRG Stadium.

“I feel good,” said Watson. “I feel great. We got the W. Able to celebrate with my teammates and my family. Another day in the office just recovering from the game and get ready for Buffalo.”

Every player in the NFL avoids confirming that they cannot play. However, coaches are little more open about the matter. Texans coach Bill O’Brien wouldn’t get into specifics about Watson’s health.

“Everybody’s working hard to get ready for the Bills and other than that, I’ll let the injury report speak for itself,” said O’Brien.

Could there be anything wrong with Watson? If so, the real question is whether or not it would compromise or hold out a quarterback who has thrown for four straight 300-yard games.

Will Watson play Sunday?

“For sure,” Watson declared.

“Oh, yeah,” O’Brien stated.

Words are one thing. Actions are another, and it is what receiver DeAndre Hopkins has seen out of Watson in 12 career games together that gives him the confidence his favorite quarterback will play against the Bills.

“No, not at all,” Hopkins answered on if he’s worried Watson won’t go. “He’s one of the toughest guys on this team. He plays quarterback so sometimes he can’t defend himself, but no, no doubt in my mind at all.”
