HOUSTON – Houston firefighters responded to a vacant building collapse in east downtown Houston Thursday morning.

The building is located on Congress near Bastrop.

So far, the building appeared to be vacant and was falling apart to begin with. Firefighters are checking to make sure no homeless people were inside at the time of the collapse.

Some of the rumble spilled over into the street, so police have it blocked off as it is being cleaned up.
