WOODLANDS — She’s walking a little slower, and talking is a little harder, but Evon Pruitt is still moving and grooving. You’d never know that just a week ago, she had a stroke.
She’s only here today because of the seven year old who won’t let her go.
"It's okay, I'm okay," she told her grandson.
It happened last Monday. Evon had just put her seven-year-old grandson, Noble, to bed, when she knew something was wrong.
“I stood up, and I said 'oh, it’s not right,' and I started sweating," Pruitt said.
She called to Noble for help.
“I was wondering why she was sweating, why she couldn’t walk," Noble said.
And when she couldn’t figure out how to unlock her phone, Noble took over.
“He said 'Siri, call Rhilip Roy,'" Evon said.
Noble told Siri to call his Papa, but he didn’t pick up.
“He said please granny, call 911," Evon said.
So he convinced her to let him call an ambulance, and Siri did just that, helping to get his grandma the hospital in minutes.
“If I say Siri call anybody, than he will call that person," Noble said.
“You’re my hero," Evon told him.
Today, she’s already in rehab at TIRR Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands. Her little hero is always by her side.
Noble’s story of courage made it’s way all the way around the galaxy, that a few his friends had to meet him.
Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Captain America presented Noble with his very own shield and super hero award.
He’s a hero who’s won over all our hearts, especially the one he loves the most.
“I love you," Noble told her.
"You love me? Give me a big kiss. l love you," She told him back.
Without Noble’s quick actions, doctors say the stroke wouldn’t have taken his grandmother’s life, but it would have paralyzed her ability to move and speak.
But today, she’s expected to be back to where she was before in just a few weeks.
