Storms, strong winds leave trees downed, twisted near Lake Livingston

Neighborhoods along Highway 190 near Lake Livingston saw storm damage after a cold front moved through, possibly spawning a tornado Wednesday.

SAN JACINTO, Texas – Neighborhoods along Highway 190 near Lake Livingston saw storm damage after a cold front moved through, possibly spawning a tornado Wednesday.

According to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, there were reports of a tornado touching down in the Holly Glen subdivision in Point Blank. There were no reports of injuries.

According to the San Jacinto County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Greg Magee, the storm left numerous trees down in four neighborhoods along Highway 190 on the west side of Lake Livingston.

He said the neighborhoods affected were Forest Cove, Northwood, Holly Glen and Point Lookout West. There were trees down on two homes in Holly Glen and another on a home in Point Lookout West.

Magee said he was not sure if it was a tornado but the storm left damaged trees twisted. He added that power in the area was out for a short time, but Sam Houston Electric’s crews were able to get it restored quickly.
