Mom, bedridden son die in Cy-Fair house fire; father hurt

The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office confirms two people died when a fire broke out shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 13700 block of Pepper Knoll Drive.

CYPRESS, Texas – A mom and her son died in a house fire in Cy-Fair overnight, investigators say.

The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office confirms two people died when a fire broke out shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 13700 block of Pepper Knoll Drive.

Firefighters arrived and found flames coming from the second floor of the home.

Authorities say a father in his 50’s made it out of the home but was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The mom and her son, who friends say suffered from cancer and was bedridden, were found dead on the first floor of the home.

Investigators are still looking at the cause of the fire, which they believe started on the second floor.

It took about two hours to get the fire under control.

Neighbors were the first to spot the smoke and called 911 when the fire broke out.
