In-N-Out Burger takeover: Second restaurant coming to Katy

This will be the third In-N-Out property in the Houston area, but only the second restaurant we're told to be opening.

KATY, Texas - Another In-N-Out restaurant could soon be headed to Houston - this time, in Katy.

Houston realtor, BPI Realty Services, says the owner of the land at the corner of I-10 and Katy Fort Bend Road just sold an acre of his property to In-N-Out Burgers after a six month negotiation. They say the burger chain has intentions of opening a restaurant there sometime next year.

This will be the third In-N-Out property in the Houston area, but only the second restaurant we’re told to be opening.

The first restaurant to open will be in Stafford at the former Texas Instruments campus just off Southwest Freeway. The third location is at 8373 Westheimer, where In-N-Out has purchased land, but no word yet on when a restaurant is opening.

BPI Realty says the landlord will also be building and leasing 30,000 feet of retail next to the burger joint. It's not known exactly when the restaurant will be opening, but realtors say sometime next year.

In-N-Out confirmed in an email that are excited about the new location in Katy, but they are still in the early stages of development. Vice President of Real Estate & Development Carl Arena released this statement:

"We do have a site we are working on in Katy, TX located on the Northeast corner of Katy Ft. Bend Road and the I-10 frontage, although the project is still in the early stages. While we’re really enthusiastic about the site and the opportunity in Katy, as I mentioned, we’re still early in the process so it would be premature to comment on a timeline or if we will even achieve a development approval. Once we begin construction on a new location it usually takes us 4 to 5 months to build a restaurant and open for business. I’m sorry I can’t be more specific about an opening date for Katy at this time but I’d hate to make a speculative guess and possibly wind up misleading your viewers if that guess was wrong."
