Houston flight to Minn. slides off runway in Green Bay

A Houston flight slid off the runway in Green Bay after the plane was diverted from Minneapolis-Saint Paul early Friday.

GREEN BAY, Wisc. – A Houston flight slid off the runway in Green Bay after the plane was diverted from Minneapolis-Saint Paul due to bad weather early Friday.

According to passengers, the flight has been identified as United Airlines Flight 878, which left Bush Intercontinental Airport at 9:09 p.m. Thursday, and was first diverted due to Madison, Wisc. when trying to land in Minneapolis.

The flight took off from Madison, but was then diverted to Green Bay where it slid off the runway as it tried to land.

There appears to be no injuries at this time.

United released the following statement:

Severe weather caused UA878, operating from Houston to Minneapolis, to divert to Madison, WI. The flight took off from Madison; however, severe weather again caused a diversion to Green Bay, WI where it left the runway. There were no injuries and we have arranged transport for passengers from the aircraft to the airport terminal. We apologize to our customers and have provided hotel accommodations.
