Funeral arrangements set for Barbara Bush

The public will have an opportunity to pay their respects to Mrs. Bush as she lay in repose between noon and midnight Friday at the church.

HOUSTON -- A private funeral service will be held Saturday for former First Lady Barbara Bush, who died Tuesday at the age of 92.

The private service will be held at St. Martin’s Church in Houston. Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton will be in attendance, as will current First Lady Melania Trump.

The public will have an opportunity to pay their respects to Mrs. Bush as she lay in repose between noon and midnight Friday at the church. Those wishing to do so must go to Second Baptist Church at 6400 Woodway Drive and park. METRO is providing buses for visitors to shuttle to and from St. Martin's.

The public is asked not to drive or walk up to St. Martin’s Church.

The family has also asked that the public not show up to Geo. H. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home in west Houston as the there will only be private viewings for close friends and family of the former first lady.

Barricades are currently set up surrounding the property for a bit of added protection. One lane on Bering Drive is closed to traffic at this time.

No public services are happening at the funeral home, but there may be private viewings for members of the Bush family and close friends.

The family has invited KHOU 11 News to the funeral home and has blocked off a specific area for the media.
