Father killed in southwest Houston townhouse fire

The Houston Fire Department believes the fire started in the back part of the home. Arson is investigating the cause.

HOUSTON — HOUSTON - A father was killed Friday night in a townhome fire in southwest Houston.

It happened around 9:13 p.m. in the 7700 block of Creekbend Drive.

The Houston Fire Department believes the fire started in the back part of the home.

The father's 36-year-old son was also in the home during the fire. He was able to escape but was unable to rescue his dad. He was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries.

No other units were damaged. Arson is investigating the cause.
