Dan Crenshaw wins praise for classy response on SNL

The Congressman-elect led by example, putting differences aside, to accept Pete Davidson's apology on-air Saturday.

Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live, making peace with the comedian who mocked him last week.

Pete Davidson faced backlash after making fun of the retired Navy Seal’s eye patch.

Political observers say there were a few surprises and upsets in Tuesday's runoff elections. The results, they say, set up interesting – and in some cases – historic showdowns for the general election.

Crenshaw lost his eye in an IED blast in Afghanistan during his third tour overseas.

The Congressman-elect led by example, putting differences aside, to accept Davidson’s apology on-air Saturday.

“There’s a lot of lessons to learn here. Not just that the left and right can still agree on some things, but also this, Americans can forgive one another,” said Crenshaw.

The new congressman from Houston also talked about Veterans Day, and showed off his comic timing, taking a few jabs at Davidson.

“He looks like if the meth on Breaking Bad was a person,” said Crenshaw.

The surprise appearance has garnered praise online.

Arnold Schwarzenegger tweeted Monday, “It is easy to be offended. It is easy to lash out. It is easy to think of Americans with different views as the other side. But that is the path of weakness. @DanCrenshawTX showed us how to be strong, how to do the hard work of coming together, how to rise above.”
