CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — A Chambers County Precinct 3 constable died after suffering a medical episode Thursday, according to Sheriff Brian Hawthorne.
Around 5:05 p.m., dispatch put a medical call out to the Precinct 3 Constable's Office building on Haynes Road in Anahuac.
Hawthorne said deputies and EMS responded and found out that Constable Donnie Standley appeared to have suffered a medical episode, which caused him to fall off his horse.
Efforts to revive Standley were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
According to Hawthorne, Standley was known to be a true, working professional law enforcement officer.
"He routinely patrolled his precinct, was known to many, and made himself available to his constituents at all times," Sheriff Hawthorne said in a post made to Facebook. "He had a great working relationship with CCSO and other local law enforcement and many of us called him friend."
Constable Standley was elected on January 1, 2005.
"The community lost a great public servant who always did his best for our county," Hawthorne said.
