Teen dies after being found unconscious in closet during house fire in Montgomery Co.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — An 18-year-old girl has died from injuries suffered during a house fire Tuesday in Montgomery County.

The fire happened on Ridgecrest Drive near Lake Conroe.

Montgomery County firefighters said Mary Weaver had burns over half her body when they pulled her out of a closet unconscious.

Prayers for the victim and her family. Fires that break out at nigh... t when occupants are asleep can be especially deadly. Smoke alarms should be placed in every bedroom, hallway and living room, essentially anywhere someone may fall asleep.

A woman and three other children ages 9, 11 and 13 escaped the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
