As he was being placed in the back of a patrol unit, the 25-year-old man tried to bribe a deputy with money in exchange for being released.

HOUSTON - A suspected drunk driver was arrested after he punched a deputy constable and then tried to bribe him in an effort to be released.

On Sunday, Jesus Villarreal, 25, was allegedly asleep behind the wheel when deputies found him in the 11800 block of Perry Road.

EMS was treating him when he became combative toward them, deputies said.

Constable deputies tried to calm Villarreal but he allegedly punched one of them in the nose and then tried to run away on foot.

He was caught shortly after and as he was placed in the back of a patrol unit, deputies said Villarreal tried to bribe a deputy by offering money in exchange for being released.

He was booked into the Harris County Jail and has been charged with Assault on a Public Servant and Bribery. No bond has been set.
