HOUSTON – A man who shot his estranged girlfriend outside of UTHealth’s University Center Tower in the medical center Friday morning is in custody, police said.
Will Burse, 36, was found hiding in a friend’s apartment early Friday afternoon. He’s been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and family violence.
Police said the victim, who wasn’t identified, agreed to meet Burse outside the tower around 9 a.m. to get her cell phone. When he pulled up, he fired a shot from inside his car, striking the woman in the leg, police said. She was taken to the hospital and released.
Burse has a long criminal history that includes assault, burglary, theft and drug possession, police said.
