WALLER COUNTY, Texas - A man was arrested after he stole credit card numbers and used them to steal diesel fuel from local gas stations, according to the Waller County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were investigating claims that several credit and debit cards were stolen and used at gas stations when they found the suspect's vehicle.

Deputies said they watched Livan Garcia Miranda, 49, pump diesel fuel into a white box truck at two different gas stations.

After they obtained a warrant and searched the vehicle, they found the gas tank had been modified and there was a cargo compartment inside the truck that was able to hold more than 500 gallons of gas.

Miranda also had more than two dozen “re-encoded” gift cards with victim’s credit card numbers that he was using to buy the fuel, deputies said.

He was charged with two second degree felony violations of the Texas Tax Code, as well as Fraudulent Use and Possession of Identifying Information (2nd degree felony) and Unlawful Use or Possession of a Criminal Instrument, (3rd degree felony).

Deputies said the Bucees Loss Prevention Team, The Texas State Comptroller’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety assisted in the ongoing investigation.
