HPD officers involved in crash responding to scene

This all happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday as they were en route to give back-up to another officer working alone holding two suspects at gunpoint.

HOUSTON — A traffic stop led to a wild scene in northeast Houston.

Two officers crashed into each other responding to the scene.

This all happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday as they were en route to give back-up to another officer working alone holding two suspects at gunpoint at Jensen and Hage.

Houston police say it all started when an officer was pulling two guys over as a routine traffic stop. When the car pulled over, two men hopped out and took off running.

They say the officer chased them down and caught them just as they were about to jump into another car. The officer drew his gun on those men and called in for help.

Other officers rushed to assist that officer. As one of the units got there and saw the officer dealing with the two suspects, he put on his breaks.

Police say that caught an officer behind him off guard and the officer slammed into the back end of that police car.

The good news is none of those officers got hurt and both of those suspects are in custody.
