Driver leads police on wild chase in southwest Houston

Police believe the driver was under the influence.

HOUSTON — A driver led Houston Police on a wild high-speed chase early Sunday morning.

Police tried to initiate a traffic stop on a Mini Cooper swerving across lanes on Highway 59, but the driver refused to stop.

The vehicle went speeds up to 80 mph, continuing to swerve across lanes before slowing down. The driver led police from Fannin all the way to Hillcroft, where the driver stopped the vehicle before taking off again.

Officers conducted a pit maneuver after the driver took the Bellaire exit. When he tried to pull away again, officers broke out the driver window.

That’s when the driver gave up.

Police believe the driver was under the influence.
