Child among those hurt when police chase ends in crash in South Houston

28-year-old Juan Antonio Alvizo, a La Porte resident, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated

SOUTH HOUSTON, Texas – Police in South Houston say a suspect led them on a chase that ended in a violent crash early Sunday morning.

According to the South Houston Police Department, it was about 1:18 a.m. when an officer attempted to stop a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck for a traffic violation on Termini Street. The driver allegedly refused to stop and got onto Highway 3 northbound.

The pickup collided with a Nissan at Edgebrook, sending multiple people, including the suspect, to the hospital.

According to police, the Nissan was occupied by an adult male, an adult female and a nine year old female. All three occupants of the Nissan were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The only occupant of the truck, 28-year-old Juan Antonio Alvizo, a La Porte resident, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and also transported to the hospital for injuries.

South Houston PD and Texas DPS are investigating.
