HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A suspect was killed and a neighbor was wounded during an altercation with a deputy responding to a shooting call Friday morning.
Deputies went to the home in the 17900 block of Seven Pines Drive around 5:30 a.m. after a caller reported hearing a gunshot and arguing coming from next door.
When the deputy arrived at the scene, a man answered the door and got into a physical altercation with the deputy, investigators said.
A neighbor heard the altercation and came over to help the deputy, investigators said. During the altercation, the deputy fired his weapon once, killing the male suspect.
Investigators said that the neighbor was also struck by a bullet. The neighbor was hit in the lower arm with a non life-threatening wound.
It is not clear if the neighbor was wounded by the same shot that killed the male suspect.
The homeowner's wife was in the house during the shooting but she wasn't hurt.
The deputy has been placed on leave pending an investigation.
